Information

Brighten UK is a UK-based fundraising initiative aiming to encourage people to reach out to those less fortunate than themselves. Our fundraising events and Community Compassion programmes encourage local communities to support and uplift each other. Our team works tirelessly to support those in need, address local causes, and provide volunteer opportunities for individuals looking to make a difference. You can get involved by contacting us via our website or visiting our 'Volunteer' page.

Impact

Since our launch in October 2024, we have been committed to helping people overlooked in their communities.

Our first ever event was a 157-mile hike across Wales, from one end to the other, in aid of 'A-Sisterhood', a UK-based fundraiser that supports women in need all over the world, where we raised over £550. This inspired us to carry on this activism and run more and more fundraising and community events. We realised that with all we're doing, it may become overwhelming and thought, what better than to have a place to run it all? So, we created Brighten UK to be the hub of all our fundraising initiatives and community events!

Why're we calling Brighten? Much like our temporary launch name, 'Embrace Compassion', our goal is to encourage people to reach out to their local communities, embrace compassion in their daily lives and to lend a hand to brighten the days of those less fortunate than themselves. So, we decided to name it as such!

We believe, it is far too often, that those who are struggling most are those who are most overlooked. A lot could be helped by taking the initiative to help someone in need in your community today. Whether it is mental health, physical health, homelessness, poverty, discrimination or anything else; the power to make a difference is in the kindness of others. No one should feel alone, join us or donate today to help brighten someone's day.

Since November 2024, we have been running regular Yoga classes to encourage people who struggle with mental health to practice mindfulness and take care of their mental and physical health.

Since December 2024, we have began running annual homelessness Compassion walks through Cardiff where we take donations of essential items (clothes, food, water, hygiene products etc) and distribute them to the homeless in Cardiff during the rough winter months. We encourage people to come along with us to distribute them to lend a hand and bring awareness to those who don't have a home to go back to after dark.

Since December 2024, we have begun running an annual Christmas Toy Drive where we take donations of new and old toys and distribute them to underprivileged children in the South Wales area who don't receive gifts at Christmas.
